Mysuru: A goods vehicle, carrying vegetables was destroyed in a fire reportedly caused by a short circuit near Hootagalli Signal Lights on Hunsur Road last evening.

The goods vehicle (KA-14-AA-3101) was carrying vegetables from Mysuru to Udupi when the driver noticed fire in the vehicle near Hootagalli Signal Lights. As soon as the driver and his assistant alighted and moved to a safe distance, fire engulfed the goods vehicle destroying it.

Personnel from Saraswathipuram Fire Station, who rushed to the spot along with the fire extinguishing vehicle, took more than an hour to douse the fire.

Saraswathipuram Fire Station Officer Nagaraj Urs, Assistant Station Officer D.M. Girish and staff Ravi, Kiran, Venkatesh and Dhruvaraj took part in the extinguishing operation.
