Bengaluru: As a welcome relief for scores of Police job aspirants, the State Government on Thursday increased the upper age limit for appointment of Police Sub-Inspectors from 28 to 30 years for general category candidates and from 30 to 32 years in respect of SC, ST and OBC candidates.

Announcing this at a press meet after the State Cabinet meeting here yesterday, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J.C. Madhuswamy said that the age relaxation is meant only for one cycle of appointment.

He further clarified that this age relaxation is applicable for the current notification issued for appointment of 556 Civil Police Sub-Inspectors.

Detailing the other Cabinet decisions, Madhuswamy said that the Government has decided to drop several conditions in respect of providing Rs. 5,000 one-time relief for Auto and Taxi drivers and Barbers and establish Pharmaceutical godowns in five districts of the State at a total cost of Rs.18.08 crore.

Also crop relief of Rs.5,000 has been extended to cover Kharif crops too. Earlier the relief was only for Rabi season crops. The Government has also decided to allot 2 acres of land near Nandi Hills to the family of late poet Prof. K.S. Nissar Ahmed who passed away recently, for setting up of an educational institution, he said.
