June 20, 2026

Mysuru: State Excise Commissioner Venkatesh Kumar has said that a recommendation has been sent to the State Government to place under suspension the Excise Deputy Commissioner (Mysuru Urban) S. Nagarajappa, in relation to the recent incident of fire mishap at a restobar in Dattagalli that claimed the lives of two persons, leaving six others injured.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Venkatesh Kumar clarified that while the suspension order has been issued against five Excise Department personnel including the Dy.SP of Excise, exercising the powers vested in me, it is only the Government that is vested with power to take action against the Deputy Commissioner cadre officer. Hence, the recommendation has been sent to the Government to suspend Excise DC, he added.
