In a shock to its employees, the State Government has stalled promotions to its staff for now.

In a circular issued on Wednesday, the Government said it was withholding promotions in Universities, permanent commissions, Board and Corporations, local bodies etc., for a period of six months. The circular has been issued following the Supreme Court verdict on job reservations in B.K. Pavitra case.

B.K. Pavitra had petitioned the Supreme Court questioning the promotion rules covering State Government employees.
