Mysuru: The by-elections to fill up vacant positions of members in Gram Panchayats (GP) of seven taluks of the district will be held on Jan.2, 2019, according to a notification issued by DC Abhiram G. Sankar yesterday.

Last date to submit the nomination is Dec.20 and scrutiny is on Dec.21. Last date to withdraw nomination is Dec.24.

Election if needed will be held on Jan. 2, 2019 from 7 am to 5 pm. If re-election is necessary it will be held on Jan.3 from 7 am to 5 pm. Counting of votes will be done at Taluk Centres on Jan.4 from 8 am.

One Returning Office (RO) and one Assistant RO will be deputed to each Gram Panchayat where the by-election will be held. Model Election Code of Conduct is in force from yesterday and will go on till Jan. 4, 2019.

The by-election will be held for one position each in Yadakola, Marballi, Suttur, Kolathur, Chilkunda, Karimuddanahalli, Gandhanahalli, Hunasawadi, Bylakuppe, Haranahalli and K. Bettur Gram Panchayat.
