Graduates’ Reception at JSS Medical College

March 26, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: “It is not important to get first rank or medals in medical education. Proper diagnosis of the disease and curing it through proper treatment and providing happiness to patients is bigger than any prize or medal,” opined Padma Shri awardee Dr. Shashank R. Joshi, Senior Consultant Endocrinologist, Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre in Mumbai.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the Graduates’ Reception of JSS Medical College at Shivathreeshwaranagar in city on Saturday.

“India is producing the highest number of doctors in the world and hence there is more demand for Indian doctors across the globe. It is good to see that youths of rural India are choosing medical profession,” said the Senior Endocrinologist.

Stating that medical profession is the best profession, Dr. Shashank Joshi said that doctors must always discharge their duties with humanitarian considerations.

“Doctors should never cross the line of professional ethics and must display utmost care, discipline and time sense while discharging their duties as per schedule. They must face their professional challenges with confidence and due diligence. Doctors must maintain good personal health and give proper treatment for their patients,” he added.

“Like in any other field, the use of technology has gained utmost importance in medical profession and translation technology through Artificial Intelligence is being put to greater use while communicating with patients and treatments are being given based on the inputs given by the patient. Doctors should share their knowledge among their colleagues. Such an exchange of knowledge will not only increase the spread of medical knowledge but also ensure increased professional skills,” said Dr. Shashank Joshi and concluded by saying that doctors should involve themselves more in research works so that they can give quality treatment to their patients with better knowledge.
