Mysuru: The Graduation Day-2018 of St. Philomena’s College was held at the College Indoor Stadium recently.
The outgoing students of all UG streams (485) and PG Departments (199) participated in the programme.
Dr. (Fr.) Eugine Lobo, Secretary, Karnataka Regional Commission for Education and PRO, Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council, Bengaluru, delivered the Graduation Day address.
Rt. Rev. Dr. K.A. William, Bishop of Mysuru, presided over the programme. Msgr. Rev. Fr. Leslie Moras, Episcopal Vicar, administered the oath to the students.
Kaprangi Elizabeth, Deputy Administrator and responsible for Education, Manuambi Mindan Sexton, Deputy Administrator and CEO, District Development Authority, were the special guests from Papua New Guinea.
Rector Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, Principal Dr. Ruth Shanthakumari, PU College Principal Rev. Dr. M. Vincent, Deans of all streams (UG&PG), retired staff members, Alumni Association Executive Committee Members, well-wishers and invited guests were present.
In his Graduation Day address, Dr. (Fr.) Eugine Lobo emphasised on the importance of personal integrity in one’s life and he advised the students to finish the tasks that they take up in life with commitment.
Quoting Abraham Lincoln, he said that we are bound to be true not just to win and to live up to what light we have and not just to succeed. He urged the students to be grateful to the parents and teachers throughout their life. He advised the outgoing graduates to have Competence, Compassion and Commitment and to learn from their mistakes.
