Mysuru: Before the felicitation ceremony, former MLC D. Madegowda was taken in a grand procession through the city in a beautifully decorated chariot.
Seated alongside his wife K.S. Nagarathna Madegowda and granddaughter Sadhana, he was escorted with deep reverence to Kalamandira, where the event unfolded. The chant “Ughé Made Gowdruge” echoed throughout the procession, underscoring the admiration he commands.
Folk art performances such as Puja Kunita, Veeragase, Gorava Kunita and Dollu Kunita added colour and vibrancy. The rhythm of drums, mangalavadya and band music created a festive mood while towering gaarudi dolls captivated onlookers. The entire procession was a befitting honour to Madegowda’s enduring legacy and public service.

The procession began near the old DC Office, close to Maharaja’s Pre-University College and passed along JLB Road, Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa Circle (Metropole Circle) and Hunsur Road before concluding at Kalamandira.
Bullock carts and traditional tongas added a rustic and royal flair, showcasing agricultural roots and Mysuru’s heritage. The event drew dignitaries and a large gathering of admirers, all eulogising the services of their beloved leader.
