Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, has organised a flute concert by Vid. Mysuru A. Chandan Kumar at 6 pm on July 8 (Saturday) at Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple, SBM Colony, Srirampura in city.
He will be accompanied by senior and accomplished artistes — Vidu. H.M. Smitha, disciple of Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy, Vid. G.S. Ramanujan, disciple of Vid. P.G.Lakshminarayana and Vid. Shamith S. Gowda, disciple of Vid. Giridhar Udupa — on violin, mridanga and ghata respectively.
Profile: Chandan is an A-grade flautist of AIR and Doordarshan. He has performed in most of the major sabhas in India and abroad.
He has also performed in Radio Sangeeta Sammelan and Mysuru Dasara programmes.
He is the great grandson of Sangeeta Kalanidhi Mysuru T. Chowdaiah and a disciple of Vid. M. Gopalakrishna, Mysuru. He had the opportunity to be guided by Padma Bhushana P.S. Narayanaswamy.
Some of the awards conferred on him include, Ustad Bismilla Khan Yuva Puraskar from Kendriya Sangeet Natak Academy, prize for Best Junior Concert from Madras Music Academy, Best Artiste award from Karnataka Ganakala Parishat, Ananya Yuva Puraskar from Ananya, Bengaluru and awards from Bharath Kalachar and Narada Gana Sabha,Chennai.
The concert is sponsored by S.N. Subba Rao, in memory of his wife late S. Nirmala.
