Mysore/Mysuru: RAAGA Music Academy will present a grand Karnatak vocal concert by city’s own Vid. G.K. Manamohan this Saturday, the 16th, at Bidaram Krishnappanavara Prasanna Seetharama Mandira, Narayana Shastry Road at 5.30 pm.
Vid. Manamohan started learning Karnatak vocal under Vidushi H.N. Rajalakshmi and pursued further under late Vidushi Vasanta Sundararajan and Vidushi Pushpa Srinivasan in Mysuru.
Having featured in several music programmes of AIR, Mysuru, since the age of seven, he started full-fledged Karnatak concerts from the age of thirteen. His unique rendition style, fine manodharma and bhaava laden singing have won the hearts of numerous music aficionados.
He has performed in many renowned organisations and sabhas in Karnataka and in the US.
As a testimony to his prowess, the instrumental ensemble pieces composed and directed by him have been appreciated by a wide range of audiences.
He has been awarded with the first prize at National level AIR competition – Devotional category and was invited as the guest faculty at Meadows School of Arts – Music, Southern Methodist University – Dallas Texas during 2006-07.
He has served at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) as Environment Health & Safety specialist (Research/Chemical Safety Specialist for the UCLA campus) for thirteen years.
On Saturday, Vid. G.K. Manamohan will be accompanied by Vid. M. Keshava on the violin, Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. S. Manjunath on the ghata.
