Grand music programmes at Nadabrahma on Oct. 28, 29

Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, brings two grand music programmes this week. On the 28th of this month, Vid. Vaikam Jeyachandran will present a vocal concert with Aditi Krishna Prakash on violin, Vinod Shyam Anoor on mridanga and Sunad Anoor on khanjira.

A qualified professional Karnatak vocal artiste, Vaikam Jeyachandran had his initial training from his father Vaikam Vasudevan Namboodari and later joined Government Music College, Tripunithura. He also received training from Sangeeta Kalanidhi Tanjore M. Tyagarajan for two years. A graded artiste, he has been performing in India and abroad and has more than fifteen years of experience in teaching. Vaikam is the recipient of Sri Musiri Subramanya Iyer Endowment Award from Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai and ‘Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Asthana Vidwan’ from Kanchipuram.  

Sunday, the 29th October will bring a whole-day tribute to Dr. Mysore V. Doreswamy Iyengar on his 97th birth anniversary.

Schedule

9.45 am:  Inauguration

10 am: Dr. S. Vijayaraghavan will present a Lec-dem which will be followed by his concert with A. Radhesh on mrdanga and S. Manjunath on ghata.

11.30 am: Vid. Srinivas Prasanna will give a Veena recital.

5.30 pm: Vid. Geeta Ramanand will be conferred with the title ‘Vainika Brahma,’ which will be followed by her concert at 6.30 pm with G.S. Ramanujam on mridanga and V.S. Ramesh on ghata.

Geeta Ramanad started her musical journey under Ranganayaki Sundar ARjan and later from C. Krishna Murty. She served a long period at Akashavani-Bengaluru, where she composed many instrumental ensembles successfully and received recognitions. Her concerts with Revati Mrty are well-known. She has participated and directed many Pancha Veena and Dasha Veena ensembles successfully.

Being A-Top artiste at AIR, and Doodarshan, she has performed in many of the prestigious Sabhas and festivals including South Zone and National programmes.
