Mysuru, Sept. 5 (VVH&VNS)- A grand procession and immersion of 1,021 Ganesha idols, installed at Sri Mahaganapathi Temple as part of Brindavan Ganeshotsava in Brindavan Extension, took place yesterday.
The Brindavan Badavane Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike had installed the idols for nine days, during which various cultural programmes were organised. Along with the Ganesha idols, which ranged from 1 ft to 6 ft in height, idols of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvathi and Lord Subramanya were also installed, drawing large crowds of devotees.
For the immersion procession, lorries, goods autorickshaws and a tractor were used, while the largest Ganesha idol was carried in a jeep. Folk artistes performing dollu and chande added vibrancy and energy to the event. The procession culminated near Manti village, where idols were immersed in the Varuna Canal.
Former MP Pratap Simha, Vedike Hon. President P.S. Nataraju, President M. Jeevan Prakash, Vice-Presidents B. Meenakshi and I.K. Jyothi, Gen. Secretary N. Raghavendra, Joint Secretary S. Vivekananda, Organising Secretary M. Allammaprabhu and Treasurer R.V. Kumar were present.
