Grand procession marks Vivekananda Jayanti and National Youth Day

Mysuru/Mysore: Marking National Youth Day and commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a grand procession carrying a statue of the Swami was taken out in city on Jan. 13 under the aegis of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram.

Hundreds of students of various schools and Swamijis of the Ashram participated in the procession which commenced from Cheluvamba Park after garlanding the statue of Vivekananda adjacent to the park. The procession passed through Kalidasa Road, Mathru Mandali Circle and reached Ramakrishna Vidyashala. The students carried placards with messages of Vivekananda. A few of them played on musical instruments.

Ramakrishna Ashram President Swami Muktidanandaji, Head of Ramakrishna Vidyashala Yukteshanandaji, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement Founder Dr. R. Balasubramaniam and others were present.

Marking Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, Ramakrishna Ashram celebrated National Youth Day at the proposed Viveka Memorial site premises on N.S.Road here on Jan. 14.

The event was marked by hundreds of school children taking out a procession from the venue through the main thoroughfares in the heart of the city, before returning to the starting point.

Swami Muktidanandaji, former Additional Principal Secretary, Government of India, N.S. Chakravarthy, Ramakrishna Vidyashala Principal Balaji and others spoke about Vivekananda’s preachings.

The students were distributed ‘Vidwath Vani’ booklet. Senior Advocate S. Arunkumar, former Corporator D. Nagabhushan, Ramakrishna Ashram’s Swami Shantivratanandaji, Swami Yukteshanandaji, RIMSE’s Swami Shivakantanandaji, ‘Viveka Prabha’ Editor Swami Jnanayoganandaji, Sadvidya Educational Institutions Secretary Narahari Babu, former Tahsildar C. Basappa and National Human Rights Service Trust former President Channegowda were present.
