Group assault victim dies in hospital

Police register a case of murder

Mysuru: Shankaraiah (45), a resident of Manti on KRS Road, who was allegedly assaulted by a group of youth near a shop on Jodi Thenginamara Road in Bannimantap here recently and admitted to hospital, breathed his last yesterday.

Shankaraiah was reportedly sitting near a shop at the aforementioned area on Saturday night. A group of youth who had come to the shop were said to have picked up a quarrel. When Shankaraiah reportedly intervened to defuse the violent quarrel, he was allegedly assaulted badly and was rushed to K.R. Hospital and then to a private hospital. Mandi Mohalla Police have registered a case of murder and are on the look out for the attackers.
