GSSS Badriprasadji PU College converts blackboard to touch screen

May 27, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Badriprasadji PU College, Siddarthanagar, Mysuru, has been conducting online classes for the students from April by using Zoom App for Science and Commerce stream including languages.

The College has created a platform to the students for adaptive, interactive and technology-based learning during this lockdown period and this process gave them as close an experience to the real classes.

In the beginning, students were given a brief revision on the first PU concepts as a bridge course. To support their learning process, the PDF files, images, self audio lectures and animated videos related to the concepts taught, were posted. In continuation of this, regular assignments and Mock Tests were given to the students and assessed through e-mail and WhatsApp. Their doubts were clarified both online and offline.

To increase the creative and personality skills of students, few activities were conducted such as  creating a video lecture of an individual student on a concept taught and creating innovative mind maps. The top performers were awarded e-certificates.

As a result of the online classes, students have overcome their depression and boredom during this COVID- 19 situation, and they are enthusiastic to learn through online. The parents are also happy and supportive of their wards’ learning process, which has led towards the successful path, with an average of 90% of attendance and few students are unable to attend the same due to some technical issues.

“The online classes are scheduled from 9 am to 3 pm with breaks. The links are shared to the live sessions an hour prior to the commencement of the classes. We have focused on not just academics, but NSS activities as well. The NSS Programme Officer has attended the district-level online meetings and instructed all the staff members and students to download and use the ‘Aarogya Setu’ App, also conducted an awareness activity on COVID-19. Regular appeals are being made to parents and students to follow Government rules ‘STAY HOME, STAY SAFE,” stated a press release from the College which added that GSSS Hon. Secretary Vanaja B. Pandit, Administrative Officer Anupama B. Pandit and Committee Members are guiding the staff to utilise the crisis in a productive manner.
