Mysuru:  Mysore GST Commissionerate stands first in Karnataka GST Zone with regard to refunds being issued within 15 days which is much earlier than the statutory timeline, said Principal Commissioner, Mysore GST Commissionerate, G.V. Krishna Rao.

He was speaking at the Goods and Service Tax (GST) Day celebration on July 1, marking completion of one year of rollout of GST in the country, organised by Mysore GST Commissionerate at its premises in Siddharatha Layout on Sunday.

He said that despite initial glitches, implementation of GST was largely successful. The visits by taxpayers to GST Sevakendras for handholding with respect to return filing, payments etc. considerably reduced in the first six months of rollout itself. The GSTN (Goods and Service Tax Network) system is also being updated with new features on regular basis.

Earlier, Amit Kumar, General Manager and Plant Head of Larsen and Toubro, one of the top GST payers of the Commissionerate, speaking as the chief guest said that though there were certain issues in the beginning, the transition to GST was very smooth. He lauded the proactive approach of government and support of local officers, especially during the initial months.

Additional Commissioner, Y.C.S. Swamy, Joint Commissioner Ravi Kiran Edara, and other officers and staff of the department were present on the occasion, according to a press release from the Commissionerate.
