Mysore/Mysuru: There seems to be confusion prevailing among the Congress party leaders for the continuation of Guarantee Schemes in the State.
While defeated candidate from Mysuru-Kodagu LS Constituency M. Lakshmana has urged the State Government to take a relook into the Guarantee Schemes, stating that the people had voted against the schemes, Magadi MLA Balakrishna had also expressed similar opinion prior to LS polls.
Speaking to a section of media, Balakrishna said that, during LS polls people had indicated that they are in no need of the Guarantee Schemes. “I am not a tall leader who could suggest the Government to continue or stop the Guarantee Schemes. The decision will be taken by CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar,” he added.
Meanwhile, reacting to the Congress leaders opinions, Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar cleared the air stating that the Guarantee Schemes would continue, as he himself, CM and Dy.CM had earlier stated that the Guarantee Schemes would continue post Lok Sabha polls. Even the newly-elected MLC Ivan D’Souza said that schemes would continue. With few leaders within the Congress party expressing concerns over the Guarantee Schemes, it has definitely embarrassed the party in public which could be capitalised by the Opposition parties for political gains, it is said.
