Rejects C.M. Lingappa’s name
Bengaluru: Governor Vajubhai R. Vala has approved two nominations recommended by the State Govt. for the Karnataka Legislative Council and set aside one recommendation.
The Chief Minister’s office yesterday said that Vala has rejected the recommendation of the name of C.M. Lingappa, a former Congress MLA from Ramanagar, for nomination to the Council, while the names of Mohan Kumar Kondajji and P.R. Ramesh were approved.
Kondajji, a Lingayat, hails from Davanagere. A Spokesperson of the Congress, he is the Headquarters Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Karnataka and National Headquarters Commissioner, New Delhi. His father Kondajji Basappa was a Union Minister in Indira Gandhi Cabinet and a Minister in S. Nijalingappa Cabinet in the State.
Ramesh, who belongs to Thigala community, was Bengaluru Mayor during 2003-2004. He is the Vice-President of Harijan Sevak Sangha founded by Mahatma Gandhi and President of Samarpan, an NGO.
