Mysuru: The Indian Institute of Educational Theatre (IIET) has organised a unique solo poetry-theatre performance titled ‘Hakki Mattu Avalu’ at the IIET premises, Hardwicke School Campus, tomorrow (June 27) at 6 pm. Conceptualised, designed and directed by renowned theatre practitioner Dr. Shripada Bhat, the performance will feature Kavya Hande on stage.
The production is based on selected Kannada poems, stories, essays and literary works translated into Kannada, bringing together literature and theatre in a compelling artistic expression.

The performance explores themes of womanhood, freedom, identity and liberation through poetry and dramatic interpretation. It portrays the journey of a woman who dreams of freedom while being confined by various social, cultural and personal boundaries. The production seeks to engage audiences in a deeper reflection on freedom, self-awareness and the process of overcoming pain and oppression.
Drawing inspiration from voices of liberation that resonate across regions, cultures and generations, the production weaves together diverse literary expressions into a powerful theatrical experience.
