Mysore/Mysuru: JSS Mahavidyapeetha is organising its 124th Handicrafts Exhibition from Dec.24 to Jan.2 under the sponsorship of Office of Development Commissioner – Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Hebbal Ring Road here.
More than 40 craftspersons from all over India including National and State awardees will be exhibiting and selling their attractive traditional and heritage artifacts. The expo will be open from 10 am to 9 pm. There is no entry and parking fee. City bus facility has been arranged from KSRTC bus stand (Bus No. 117).
Craftsmen will present live demonstrations in art and craft-making and also display Pujabi Phulkari/Patiala Suits, Bhagalpur Tussar Silk sarees/duppatta, Bastar Iron Craft from Madhya Pradesh, Horn Products, Grass Mats/ Curtains, Jaipur Kurthas & Raprons, Jute bags, Wood carving & furniture from Saharanpur, Wood Inlay, Chicken Embroidery, Modern Ceramic Arts Murals, Madhubani Painting, Rajasthan Miniature Paintings, Rajasthan Embroidery & footwear, Dry flower, All kinds of Leather & Jute products, Channapattana Toys, Terracotta items and other attractive handicrafts.
The event will be inaugurated on Dec.24 at 4 pm by MP Pratap Simha. MLA G.T. Devegowda will preside. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Dr. B.S. Manjunathaswamy, Additional DC, H.G. Ravindra, Deputy Director, Finance Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Niranjanamurthy, Collegiate Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, K.S. Sunilkumar, Assistant Director, Handicraft Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles, will be the chief guests.
