Mysuru: The Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (KSHDCL) has organised an Exhibition-cum-Sale of Handicrafts at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road in city. The seven-day exhibition was inaugurated yesterday by Mayor M.J. Ravikumar and it will remain open till Nov. 9 from 10 am to 9.30 pm.
The uniqueness of this exhibition is that the artisans are displaying their products and there are no middlemen involved. The Corporation has created an opportunity for the customers to directly interact and purchase the items from them.
Some of the products on display include wooden carvings, bronze figures, terracotta items, papier mache art, woollen rugs, Tanjore, Mysuru style paintings, Chanderi, Patola sarees, silver miniatures, cane products, decorated dry flowers, Chiken embroidery, iron artefacts from Uttar Pradesh, products from Chattisgarh, Bihar’s Madhubani paintings, lac bangles and other items.
Corporator P. Prashanth, KSHDCL Director V. Varalakshmi, District Industries Centre Joint Director H. Ramakrishne Gowda and Asst. Director, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Mysuru, P. Shashidar were present.
