Harassed minor girl commits suicide

Mysuru: A minor girl, who rejected the proposal of a youth, only to be harassed by him, committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her residence in Muneshwaranagar in Udayagiri Police limits on Feb.21.

It is learnt that one Girish was pestering the girl to elope with him and get married, which the girl rejected following which Girish allegedly threatened to kill her family members and began to harass the girl.

Depressed over this, the girl, on Feb. 21 poured kerosene on her and set herself on fire in a bid to commit suicide. The girl who suffered severe burns was admitted to K.R. Hospital, where she breathed her last on Feb.25.

Udayagiri Police, who have registered a case, have launched a hunt to nab Girsh who has gone absconding.
