Harassment at KRS Tollgate

April 10, 2022

Sir,

With the reduction in COVID-19 cases, after a long gap, thousands of people are visiting tourist places. Brindavan Gardens at KRS is one of the most popular tourist destinations for people far and near.

We also planned our visit to Brindavan recently. To our utter surprise, the tollgate just before KRS Gates insists on parking charges in addition to the tollgate charges. We have never heard of tollgates collecting parking charges anywhere.

We insisted on paying tollgate charges and paying the parking charges as norm, at the venue, if there is one additionally. Despite our plea, showing our confirmed booking at the hotel within the KRS and allowing their conversation with the hotel receptionist, the personnel at the tollgate were rude, ill-behaved, and demanded the payment of parking charges at tollgate.

This is nothing but harassment of tourists who have confirmed their stay within KRS in one of the two hotels that have lodging facilities. Authorities should take the matter seriously and prevent harassment of tourists who wish to stay at the hotel. There has to be a separate tollgate collection and parking charges collection counter as it is done at all places.

Such harassment will only lead to people from avoiding stay at tourist places, adversely spreading it on social media, as many have done about this issue and putting an additional burden on tourism which is already hit by pandemic.
