‘Hard work and dedication must for overall development of student’

Mysuru: ‘Only hard work and dedication will help in the overall development of the student,’ opined Dr. S. Vidyashankar, Vice-Chancellor, KSOU.

Addressing the first year students of BBA, B.Com and BA in Vidyavardhaka First Grade College (VVFGC) here recently, he said that a good infrastructure with effective teachers and interested students are important in the development of an institution.

Stating that the ‘Name’ of the institution does not matter but what matters is how the college helps in a student’s growth, the VC stressed on the advancing technology and how students must make use of it to the fullest. 

The VC opined that students must use every given opportunities well, as the current situation is highly competitive. 

He also said that completing the degree has to be the priority along with physical fitness. Students should get engaged in extracurricular activities in order to make overall development. 

Chief guest P. Vishwanath, Secretary,  Vidyavardhaka Sangha, spoke on how Indians were a part of progress in a leading nation like USA. He also mentioned the importance of Commerce graduates in the overall growth of a nation.

Gundappa Gowda, Hon. President of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, presided. Shrishaila Ramannanavar, Treasurer in-charge of the Sangha and T. Nagaraju, Chairman, CMC, VVFGC were the guests of honour. 

Dr. S. Marigowda, Principal of VVFGC, delivered the introductory address. J. Manju rendered the invocation. Dr. B.T. Raghu welcomed. After the inaugural function, a special lecture  on the topic ‘Education Quotient’ was delivered by Dr. B.N. Raveesh, HoD of Psychiatry, MMC&RI.
