Harmful chemical colours in jalebi and juice: Food Safety & Drug Administration begins collecting samples

Mysuru: Following usage of harmful artificial chemical colours while preparing jalebi and juice and selling the same to customers, the officials of Food Safety and Drug Administration Department are visiting shops across city and collecting samples for testing.

The samples are being sent to the Food Laboratory for testing. The District Designated Officer of the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has been instructed to send the lab report to the Department’s Central Office in Bengaluru.

It is to be known what action will be taken if the lab reports confirm the presence of harmful artificial chemical colours in the above food products.
