Hassan student  drowns in Cauvery River

Kushalnagar: In a tragic incident, a student who was part of his college tour drowned at River Cauvery close to Ramalingeshwara Temple, Kanive near Kushalnagar on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Vinod (24), a student of Hoysaleshwara First Grade College at Arasikere in Hassan district. Vinod along with his fellow students and lecturers of the college arrived in Kodagu district on Thursday and stayed overnight.

On Friday morning, Vinod went to the river to wash his face, when he accidentally slipped and drowned in the water.

By the time fellow students and lecturers could save him, Vinod had met a watery grave, it is learnt. His body was fished out and sent to Kushalnagar Government Hospital for post-mortem. The body was later handed over to his relatives.
