NR MLA Tanveer Sait hits out at party top brass; tells District Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah to derive experience from his previous role as ‘de facto CM’

Mysuru: Narasimharaja (NR) Constituency Congress MLA Tanveer Sait, who has been sulking over denying him the Ministry, ignoring his six-term-long stint as a legislator, vented his anguish over how he has been sacrificing for the last 18 years, while the new entrants to the party were given a royal treatment.

Ostensibly hitting out at former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Sait, while speaking to Star of Mysore, said ‘While those who jumped ship from other party to Congress were treated well, should I continue to sacrifice? As the previous Chief Minister hailed from Mysuru, I wasn’t made the Minister. But the assurance was given to accommodate into the Ministry after two-and-a-half years, only to renege on the promise.’

 “I am not under any illusion about, whether all is well or not in the party. We, including Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and K. Venkatesh, have discussed about the current developments. Besides, the issues we have discussed have been brought to the notice of party top brass through AICC Secretary Abhijit during his visit to the city. We will go and discuss with the High Command only on invitation, but will not go to them, losing our self-respect,” he added.

On Tuesday, the moment it came to notice about the closed-door meeting with Dr. Mahadevappa and Venkatesh in the city, Siddaramaiah sent his son Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the UD Minister and Mysuru District Minister, rushing.

Sait said, ‘Yathindra sought our cooperation and we obliged. We also reminded Yathindra, how he wielded power earlier, functioning like a de facto CM, deriving the experience from which, he can continue to discharge his duties as the District Minister now.’

‘He had meddled in the affairs of all the Constituencies, not even sparing NR,’ added Sait, further showing his animosity.

How can a lone Minister representing Mysuru District, contribute to the organisational activities of the party, asked Sait, who however, swore his loyalty to the grand-old party.

“My father had advised me to live and die as a Congressman. I have been living true to the words of my father. I haven’t asked anything for my personal gains, except for the cause of development. I won’t compromise if there was any jolt to my conscience,” said Sait.

There is no clue about who actually is running the Government in the State, but one who became an MLC, without contesting the elections, can be elevated as a Minister. It’s all due to sheer luck, said Sait, without taking the name of MLC Yathindra.

Sait clarified that he would take part in the Legislature Session, considering his responsibility as an MLA elected by the people of his Constituency.
