HC directs State Govt. to provide Rs. 2,000 for each domestic worker

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday directed the State Government to pay domestic workers Rs. 2,000 each as compensation.

The State Government, on May 20, had issued an order regarding payment of Rs 2,000 as compensation for the workers of unorganised sectors in the wake of Corona crisis. The Government had informed the DC that it would pay the compensation to all those workers who come under Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.

A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka issued orders after studying an interlocutory application by Domestic Workers Rights Union.
