Mega Lok Adalat in city on Aug. 14

Mysore/Mysuru: A mega Lok Adalat will be held in all Courts of the district on Aug. 14 under the aegis of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).

Addressing a press meet at Malalavadi Courts Complex here yesterday, Principal District and Sessions Court Judge M.L. Raghunath, who is also the DLSA President, said that it is a good opportunity for litigants to settle their disputes in the   Adalat amicably.

Pointing out that as many as 23,217 cases have been identified for settlement in the district on Aug. 14, Judge Raghunath said that this number may possibly go up by the date of the Adalat.

Pointing out that pre-litigation cases such as NI Act cases, money recovery cases, labour disputes, Civic Utilities Bills (excluding non-compoundable), maintenance cases etc., could be settled amicably, he said that also, cases pending in Courts such as Bank matters, criminal compoundable offences, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases, MMRD (Mines Minerals Regulation and Development) Act, land acquisition cases, service matters relating to pay, allowances and retiral benefits, revenue cases (pending in District and High Courts), other civil cases, petty cases  etc., can also be resolved through mediation.

He asked the litigants to participate in this adalat for resolution of cases. He also appealed all the participants to strictly adhere to COVID Appropriate Behaviour and to follow Government SOPs.

Mysore Bar Association President S. Anand Kumar, who also addressed the press meet, appealed the litigants to make use of this opportunity and settle their cases amicably through mediation and counselling. He also sought the support of advocates for the success of the Lok Adalat.

Noting that due to COVID restrictions, Courts are not functioning on a full-scale and as such, a high number of cases are pending in Courts, Anand Kumar observed that the litigants can settle their disputes in this Lok Adalat and thus get relief.

Senior Civil Judge and DLSA Member-Secretary Devaraj Bhoothe and  Mysore Bar Association Secretary B. Shivanna were present at the press meet. For details, contact Ph: 0821-2330130 or Toll-free Helpline: 18004250131 or e-mail: mysurudlsa@gmail.com
