Lok Adalat clears over 3,000 cases in city court

Mysuru: Over 3,000 cases, pending before Mysuru City and Taluk Courts, were cleared at the Rashtriya Lok Adalat held at the City Law Court premises yesterday.

The Lok Adalat commenced in the morning and went on till evening at 50 Benches with 3,322 cases out of 11,186 cleared and compensation of Rs.20,84,30,551 settled. Bank recovery cases – Rs.1,96,14,358 recovered from 146 cases; Criminal cases – Rs.8,42,840 paid as compensation solving 520 cases; MACT  cases – Rs.4,02,12,170 paid as compensation solving 168 cases; Civil cases – Rs.7,07,10,688 paid solving 497 cases; NI Act cases – Rs.7,33,62,497 paid solving 138 cases and other criminal cases – Rs.37,16,000 paid solving 1,399 cases, according to B.P. Devamane, Member-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority.

Another special feature was 35 domestic cases were resolved in the Adalat by District Family Court Judge N.S. Patil.
