HC Judge Sandesh advocates universal health, education

April 8, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: High Court Judge Justice H.P. Sandesh said, “The people should have access to universal health and education, rather than guarantees, as both these sectors are controlled by our leaders who  indulge in exploiting the people.”

Justice Sandesh was addressing the gathering during First Annual District Convention-2024 of Lions International District 317G at Convocation Hall of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) in the city yesterday morning.

Saying that there should be a demand for universal health and education, Justice Sandesh said: “In case of any health issues, poor cannot afford several thousands of rupees to meet the expenses at hospitals. Similarly, if one has talent, still they would be deprived of proper education for being unable to afford hefty fees and other hurdles. Owing to lack of access to universal health and education, the people are exploited. The Lions Clubs should work in this regard.”

Referring to growing fad for cell phone among people, Justice Sandesh said: “The cell phone has both advantages and disadvantages, but we should make good use of it. The people are engrossed in cell phone for 24 hours, but parents should focus on keeping their wards away from cell phones. Instead, the children should be taught a lesson about life as admitting them to prestigious schools alone won’t help them in coming up in life.”

District and Sessions Court Judge Prabhavati M. Hiremath, Lions District Governor Dr. N. Krishne Gowda, his wife Hemavathi, Multiple Council Chairman-317 Rajashekaraiah and others were present.
