September 6, 2024

Mysuru: The Mandi Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Head Constable Raju, who is attached to Ashokapuram Police Station, on charges of aiding burglars in selling stolen gold ornaments.

The FIR accuses Head Constable Raju of assisting burglars Nasrulla Babu and Aleem in selling approximately 400 grams of stolen jewellery.

The two suspects were arrested by the Mandi Police for house burglaries in the city. During their interrogation, Babu and Aleem allegedly revealed that Raju was facilitating the sale of the stolen gold.

Upon learning of Raju’s involvement, the Mandi Police summoned him for questioning and subsequently registered the FIR.

A senior Police officer confirmed that Raju has been granted bail at the station level, and the process to suspend him is currently underway. It has also come to light that Raju has previously been implicated in cheque bounce and other cases.
