Mysuru:  A headmistress of a private school, thrashing a girl student for not paying the fees, has come to light in city lately.

It is alleged that the headmistress, on Feb. 21, summoned the 7-year-old girl student and allegedly hit her repeatedly with a cane for not paying the school fees besides making her to squat on the ground for the day.

The girl who went home after the school, told her parents about the thrashing by the headmistress and the girl’s father in-turn lodged a complaint with the authorities of the Child Welfare Committee.

The Members of the Child Welfare Committee enquired about the incident with the girl and after recording her statements, instructed the father of the girl to lodge a complaint against the headmistress under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.

Devaraja Police, who have registered a case under Juvenile Justice Act Column 75 are investigating.
