Heritage building near DDPI’s office crumbles

August 18, 2017

Mysuru: Like the proverbial poem ‘London Bridge is Falling Down, Falling Down’, the officials of the Department of Public Instructions located at D. Subbaiah Road in city had written a letter to Heritage Department stating that an old building at the DDPI office premises was about to fall. But their letter was royally ignored.

This morning, the officials witnessed an old building located on 15 ft X 10 ft plot falling down, damaging a Hero Splendor  (KA-09-EC-2978) belonging on to one Raghunathan, Superintendent, Department of Public Instructions.

The building, which was in a dilapidated state, was damaged as the roots of the Peepal Tree had grown into the building, weakening the structure and the recent heavy rains had further damaged the building. The building was also the place where visiting teachers used to take shelter. Luckily, there was no casualty as no one was present today.
