Hero Indian Super League 2020-21L: Mumbai City clinches League Winners Shield after beating ATKMB

Mumbai City FC finished the league stage of the 2020-21 Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) as leaders and clinched the League Winners Shield after a 2-0 win against ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim yesterday.

In what was the last game of the league stage, headed goals from Mourtada Fall and Bartholomew Ogbeche in the first half were enough for the Islanders to secure the win. With this victory, Mumbai City FC also secured a place in next year’s AFC Champions League group stage.

In the first game of the day yesterday, FC Goa became the fourth and last team to qualify for the semi-finals of Hero ISL 2020-21 after a 0-0 draw with Hyderabad FC at the Fatorda Stadium.

Hyderabad went into the match needing a win to make the semis, but Goa ensured that they kept a clean sheet to earn a crucial point that cemented a top-four league stage finish for the Gaurs.

AWARDS — Hero of the Match: Adil Khan (FC Goa); DHL Winning Pass of the Match: Edu Bedia (FC Goa).

The semi-finals will begin from Mar. 5 — Goa Vs Mumbai City, NorthEast United Vs ATK Mohun Bagan, Mumbai City Vs Goa and ATK Mohun Bagan — and final will be held on Mar. 13.
