Hindu Mahasabha urges Police for stringent punishment to rape accused

September 3, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Akhila Bharatha Hindu Mahasabha, Mysuru District Unit, has urged the Police for stringent punishment to all those involved in the sexual assault on a girl student near the foot of Chamundi Hill recently.

Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here on Sept. 1, Mahasabha Convenor Srinivas expressed surprise over the move by the victim, who left Mysuru without giving her statement to the Police.

Pointing out that the victim may have left Mysuru due to fear of coming in front of people, Srinivas urged the Police to voluntarily pursue the case for stringent punishment to the accused, failing which the future of many innocent girls and their families may plunge into darkness.

Lauding the Mysuru Police for cracking the case by arresting the accused in record time, he said that the Mahasabha would be felicitating the Police personnel as a token of gratitude.

Dress code: Srinivas also said that there was a need for a dress code for devotees visiting temples in the State and added that the Mahasabha had informed about it during its previous press meet but nothing had happened in this regard.

Stating that the money collected in temple hundis were not being utilised for the development of temples, he said that the Muzrai Department officials were only taking away the hundi collections and added that the Department should provide food for the devotees visiting the temples coming under the Department.

Mahasabha District Unit office-bearers Gajendra, Raju, Vasanth, Manjunath and others were present at the press meet.
