Hindustani Classical Music Concerts in city on Aug.3

Mysuru: Gayana Sabha, Mysuru, has organised Hindustani Classical Music concerts at Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar on Aug.3 from 5.30 pm. 

Bhimashankar Bidanur will present tabla solo performance in the first session followed by vocal recital by Chaitanya Bhat. They will be accompanied on the harmonium by Deepak Nagannavar and Parameshwar Hegde on tabla.

Profile: Bhimashankar Bidanur started training in tabla at a very young age under the guidance of Pt. Shivaputrappa Hoogar, Pt. Dr. Puttaraja Kavi Gawai, Veereshwara Punyashrama, Gadag, for about eight years. Presently, he is under the tutelage of Pt. Ravindra Yavagal and Pt. Y.R. Mulimani, Gadag. He has completed Vidwat examination of Karnataka Government and Alankar Examination of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj. He is also ‘B’ grade artiste of All India Radio (AIR).

A recipient of many scholarships and awards, Bhimashankar has performed at many prestigious platforms of Karnataka and across the country, with eminent maestros like Pt. Rajiv Taranath, Pt. Indudhar Nirody, Pt. Venkateshkumar, Pt. Vikas Kashalkar, to name a few. Presently, he is on the faculty of Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music University, Mysuru.

Chaithanya Bhat, a young talented and brilliant vocalist, started training in both vocal and  harmonium from Pt. Mallikarjuna Sanshi. He is also trained in tabla from Pt. Nagesh Pai and Pt. Shashikanth Kulkarni. He has been under the tutelage Pt. Ravikiran Manipal since last six years. 

A mechanical engineer by profession, he has completed Sangeet Visharada examination conducted by Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. He has won many awards in music competitions  and Fellowship of Karnataka Music and Dance Academy. He is also ‘B’ grade artiste of AIR and performed at many prestigious platforms.
