Hindustani Jaltarang concert at Suttur Mutt on Saturday

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of monthly moonlight music programme-246, Vidu. Shashikala Dani will present a Hindustani Jaltarang concert at Suttur Mutt, foot of Chamundi Hill, in city on Sept. 10 at 6 pm. She will be accompanied by Pt. Ramesh Dannur on tabla.

Vidu. Shashikala: Daughter of Guru Pt. D. R. Warang, Shashikala is trained in the Gwalior Gharana school of Hindustani Classical Music by her father. She is one among the few musicians and presently the only All India Radio and Doordarshan B-High graded female exponent of Jaltarang. She is a multi-instrument artiste who can play Harmonium, Sitar, Violin, Dilruba and Tabla. She has set music institutes at Bengaluru and Hubballi. Shashikala has received ‘Karnataka Kalashri’, ‘Kitturu Rani Chennamma’ awards among others.

Pt. Ramesh Dhannur: Pandit Ramesh Dhannur is the disciple of Paramapoojya Gadugina Pandit Puttaraj Gawai. He has accompanied his teacher in a number of concerts. He teaches at Swara Sankula School of Music and also works as tabla accompanist at Music University. He is the recipient of many honours including ‘Kannada Vikasa’ award.
