Mysuru: Mysuru Lokayukta Police yesterday trapped the Bill Collector of Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC) while he was accepting a bribe to fix the revenue and to provide Form – 3 to a GPA holder.
The Bill Collector, who was caught red handed is Dinesh. He was trapped in front of Hootagalli CMC when he was accepting the bribe from GPA holder Chethan of Mandya.
Two years ago, Chethan had submitted an application for fixation of revenue and to provide Form – 3 to the property of one Bhyrappa, for which he was the GPA holder. Dinesh had demanded a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh for the same and had settled the bribe amount to Rs. 1.80 lakh.
Yesterday afternoon, Dinesh, citing sickness, obtained permission from his higher officer, left for his home, but came back in the evening to the Office. At about 7 pm yesterday, Dinesh was receiving Rs. 40,000 from Chethan in front of his Office, when the Lokayukta Police swooped on him and caught him red handed.
The Lokayukta Police, who interrogated Dinesh, registered a case and handed him over to judicial custody this morning.
Lokayukta Superintendent of Police T.J. Udesh guided Inspectors Ravikumar and Roopashree and staff Lokesh Raje Urs, Mohan Kumar, Dinesh, Mohan Gowda and others in the operation.
