Mysuru: Contract workers at Hospitals, under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Horaguttige Karmikara Okkoota, staged a demonstration in front of the DHO office at Nazarbad yesterday, demanding minimum wages for non-clinical workers at Government Hospitals.
Claiming that more than 100 non-clinical workers such as ayah, sweepers, lab workers etc., serving at taluk hospitals and Primary Health Centres (PHC) across the district, were denied minimum wages, the protesters alleged that they are being threatened with dismissal for seeking implementation of the Labour Department’s order, which had directed for payment of minimum wages for contract workers.
The Okkoota office-bearers Srikant Mahaguna, Abhigowda, Mahantesh, Venkatalakshmamma, Shantamma and others led the protest.
SDPI stages protest against Dakshina Kannada violence
Demanding strict action against communal forces, which are spreading violence in Dakshina Kannada district, activists of SDPI (Social Democratic Party of India) staged a demonstration near Milad Park here yesterday.
Strongly condemning the brutal killing of SDPI activist Mohammed Ashraf of Bantwal, the protesters alleged that the communal forces were out to disturb peace and harmony in Dakshina Kannada district
Urging for immediate arrest of Ashraf’s killers, the protesters sought appropriate compensation to the slain SDPI activists family members.
SDPI office-bearers Abdul Majid, Rehman, Puttananjaiah, Amin Sait, Alur Mallanna, Tabraiz Sait and others part among the protesters.
