Mysuru: Burglars, who broke into a locked house at Shakthinagar here, have decamped with gold ornaments worth about Rs.2.10 lakh from the house. The burglary took place in the house of Hemavathi, who had locked the house on Apr.10 and had gone out of station. The incident came to light on Apr.12 night, when Hemavathi’s neighbours saw the front door open with things scattered on the floor and informed Hemavathi over the phone.
Hemavathi, who returned the next day morning (Apr.13) inspected the wardrobe and found gold bangles, chain, necklace, earrings, finger rings and other valuables missing and lodged a complaint with Udayagiri Police.
Udayagiri Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
It may be recalled that a few days back, burglars had broke into the house of one Tom Joseph in Vidyashankar Layout in Udayagiri Police limits and had decamped with gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees.
As summer holidays for students have begun, it is common for the parents to take their children on long trips or short excursions by locking the house but failing to inform the Police to keep an eye on the house which is leading to such crimes.
The Police have once again urged the residents to inform them when they are locking the house and going on trips so that they could keep an eye on such houses to prevent thefts.
