House burgled in broad daylight at Nanjangud

65 grams gold, Rs. 1.40 lakh cash stolen

Nanjangud: Burglars, who broke into a house in broad daylight by forcibly entering the house through the rear door, have decamped with 65 grams gold jewellery and Rs. 1.40 lakh cash that too in front of the house owner on Wednesday.

The burglary took place at the house of Puneeth Kumar, a resident of Chamundi Township Layout in the town and an employee of Nestle.

It is learnt that on Wednesday at about 10.30 am, Puneeth and his wife had been to the Post Office on some work during which one burglar was seated in a car while another gained entry into the house by breaking open the rear door of the house and was looting gold and cash when Puneeth and his wife returned.

Though the couple saw the burglar sitting in the car in front of their house, they assumed that he must be waiting for someone and entered the house during which the burglar sitting in the car gave a signal alerting his accomplice, who was inside the house. After being alerted, the burglar escaped from the rear door with the booty.

When the couple rushed outside, the burglars has fled in the car and the incident has been captured in the CCTV camera.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) Raghu, Town Police Inspector Ravindra, dog squad and fingerprint experts rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection and a hunt has been launched to trace and arrest the burglars.

A case has been registered at Nanjangud Town Police Station.
