Mysuru: Burglars, who broke into a house in daylight, have decamped with gold, silver and cash, worth lakhs of rupees from the house.
The burglary took place at the house of Javaregowda in Vajamangala. A resident of Kokkare Hundi village in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya, Javaregowda had constructed a house on Survey No. 378 in Vajamangala in Mysuru taluk and was residing with his wife Jayamma, son and daughter-in-law.
On Friday, Javaregowda had gone to Srirangapatna on some work. As one Prabhakar of Kokkare Hundi village had invited for lunch, Javaregowda’s son dropped his wife to the village and had gone to T. Narasipur. At about 12.30 pm, Jayamma locked the house and went to Kokkare Hundi village.
At about 6.30 pm, Javaregowda’s daughter and son-in-law came to Vajamangala only to see the lock of the front door broken and the house burgled.
Javaregowda, who too arrived at the house, inspected the wardrobe only to find gold ornaments worth about Rs. 18.48 lakh, silver articles worth Rs. 1.20 lakh, Rs. 1.50 lakh cash and mobile phone, totalling Rs. 21.18 stolen.
Varuna Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
