Hoysala Awards to be presented on Dec. 27

Mysuru: The following achievers from various fields have been selected for the prestigious State-level Hoysala Awards (2019) given by Hoysala Kannada Sangha and Savigannada Patrika Balaga:

Dr. Pradhan Gurudatta (Literature and Translation), Padma Shri awardee couple K. Sampath Kumar and Jayalakshmi (Editors of ‘Sudharma’ Sanskrit daily for Sanskrit Journalism), H.R. Chandravadana Rao (Translation), Prof. Morabada Mallikarjuna (Education and Administration), Dr. T.V. Sathyanarayana (Sanskrit and Heritage), U.S. Ramanna (Folklore and Theatre), Pragathi Gopalakrishna (Press Photography), Suresh Rigvedi (Indian Culture and Heritage), Dr. Kavitha Rai (Literature and literary criticism), Vidu. Mithra Naveen (Bharatanatyam), Dr. Mamatha Sathyanarayana (Wildlife and Environment), Dr. Mugur Madhu Dikshit (Astrology), Vid. D. Keshava (Dance and Yoga), M.S. Venkataramaiah (Culture and Organisation).

The awards will be presented at a programme to be held at Veene Seshanna Bhavan on Adichunchanagiri Road in Kuvempunagar at 4.30 pm on Dec. 27, marking the 18th anniversary of Savigannada Patrika Balaga. 

Sri Ilai Alwar Swamiji of Melkote Vangipur Nambi Mutt will grace the occasion. Chairman of D. Devaraja Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation R. Raghu Kautilya will be inaugurating the event. Agricultural scientist Dr. Vasanth Kumar Thimakapura will be releasing the 18th anniversary special issue of Savigannada Patrike.

Retired Officer of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) K. Jayaprakash Rao will be conferring the awards. Retired Registrar of Karnataka Nataka Academy A.S. Nagaraj will be addressing the gathering. President of Hoysala Kannada Sangha Maddikere Gopal will preside. Poetess Dr. Latha Rajashekar, Retired General Manager of Canara Bank Dr. S.T. Ramachandra, theatre artist B.M. Ramachandra and writer Dr. Pushpa Iyengar will be the chief guests, according to a press release.
