Bengaluru: Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that the guidelines for Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) courses for the year 2018-19 has been framed and admissions will be approved shortly.
He said that he has called for a meeting in New Delhi next week to discuss about the admissions in the interest of lakhs of students and permission will be granted to start the admission process for students in the coming 2018-19 academic year.
Separate examinations will be held for old students and their exam papers valued and marks cards recognised. “I have also come from the students’ movement and I am always for their interest,” he told the media.
Students happy: KSOU lost it recognition in the year 2013. More than one lakh students had passed and obtained degrees. As a result of University Grants Commission (UGC) de-recognising the courses, the marks cards of the students became invalid. The government and the private companies did not recognise the degrees when many of them applied for jobs based on the marks cards. Similar was the fate of the students admitted in 2012.
However, due to the efforts of KSOU which approached the High Court, it passed an order to recognise the marks cards of the 2012 batch of students that has benefited them.
The assurance of the HRD Minister now has kindled the hopes of students as they had all suffered a lot economically.
