Huge loss in business: PLD Bank Director commits suicide

K.R. Pet: Depressed over huge loss in business, a 33-year-old man committed suicide by consuming poison at Valagere Menasa village in the taluk of Mandya district on Saturday.

The deceased is Tejas Gowda, Director of Taluk PLD Bank and a BJP leader, who was running a hi-tech Ragi Flour Mill and supplying ragi flour across the State.

Tejas Gowda had established a large scale hi-tech Ragi Flour Mill at Valagere Menasa village, where he used to purchase ragi from farmers, process it and used to supply loads of ragi flour to Bengaluru among other places in the State.

Following COVID-19 lockdown, Tejas Gowda is said to have suffered huge losses and depressed over this he allegedly consumed poison on Saturday at the village. Though he was being rushed to a hospital in Mysuru, he is said to have breathed his last midway.

He leaves behind his parents, wife, daughter and son. A case has been registered at K.R. Pet Town Police Station.
