Human skull found while cleaning storm water drain at Agrahara?

Mysore/Mysuru: Workers telling that they had seen a human skull while cleaning the storm water drain at Agrahara has created panic among the residents.

In the wake of monsoon, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has taken up cleaning of drains in city and the MCC staff had taken up cleaning of the storm water drain at Agrahara during which they said that they saw a human skull in a helmet following which an operation to trace the skull was taken up.

Corporator B.V. Manjunath said that the MCC had released Rs. 95,000 for the storm water drain works near Srikantha School and the works were allotted to Contractor Dayananda, who commenced the works from Friday.

Worker Palaniswamy, who was involved in clearing the silt, said that he found a helmet while removing the silt and when he removed the helmet from the silt, he found a skull. He further said that when he realised that he had kept his fingers inside the mouth of the skull, he immediately dropped the helmet in the drain and came out of it.

Manjunath said that the Contractor informed him when he went for inspection on Saturday morning that even a woman worker had seen the skull. Manjunath then immediately contacted K.R. Inspector Mahesh and informed him about the skull, who immediately sent his staff to the spot. An earth-excavating machine was brought and the stone slabs covering the drain were removed and silt, along with garbage, was removed from the drain.

There were garbage bags dumped inside the drain. Though the operation to trace the skull was conducted for a few hours, the skull could not be traced, the Corporator said and added that the skull may have been swept away in the drain water.

Meanwhile, the operation to trace the skull continued today also.
