I-T officials raid house of chicken trader

Raid conducted on suspicion of cash hoarding

Pandavapura: The Income Tax (I-T) officials, on Sunday, have raided the house of a chicken trader at Jakkanahalli in the taluk on suspicion that the trader was hoarding cash.

About six I-T officials conducted the raid on the house of chicken trader Ravi, who is also a JD(S) leader at 2 pm and examined various documents till 9 pm.

Ravi runs a fruit and chicken shop at Jakkanahalli and is also a chicken distributor. Suspecting that Ravi may be hoarding cash for the election, the I-T officials are said to have raided his house.

During the raid, the I-T officials found Rs. 10 lakh cash for which Ravi gave documents for Rs. 5 lakh.

As there were no documents for Rs. 5 lakh cash, the I-T officials have seized the cash and have asked Ravi to produce documents for the same besides instructing him to come to Mysuru on Wednesday.
