Mysuru: The International Conference & Conclave on Sustainable Technology-2025 (ICST 2025) concluded on Feb. 20 at the Diamond Jubilee Sports Complex, NIE South Campus.
Organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIE Mysuru, the two-day event brought together global researchers, policymakers and industry leaders to discuss advancements in sustainability.
The Conference was inaugurated by S.E. Sudheendra, Chairman, Karnataka State Bioenergy Development Board, who highlighted the role of bioenergy and sustainable policies.
Guests of honour included Dr. Ashutosh A. Murkute (Director, MGIRI, Wardha) and Dr. S.A. Mohan Krishan (Hon. Secretary, IEI India, Mysuru) and Dr. Rohini Nagapadma (Principal, NIE).
Dr. M.S. Ranganath, Hon. President, NIE Management Committee, presided over the session, emphasising NIE’s commitment to research.
The event was supported by alumni, including Hareesh Ramanna (Borqs Technologies), Jayakumar Krishnaswamy (RMZ Corp), Ravishankar (EPIC Asset Management, London) and Amjad Husain (Chief Innovation Officer, NIE Mysuru).
The Conference hosted keynote addresses, panel discussions and research presentations on renewable energy, green computing, sustainable materials, robotics, e-mobility and eco-friendly infrastructure.
Experts such as Prof. Hui-Kai Su (National Formosa University, Taiwan), Dr. R. Geetha Balakrishna (Jain University, Bengaluru), Dr. Sheikh Sabor (VIT, Vellore), Prof. Bjorn Shafer (FH Dortmund, Germany), Prof. Dr. Stephan Weyers (FH Dortmund, Germany), Prof. Raj Kumar Buyya (University of Melbourne, Australia), Dr. E.V.S Kiran Kumar Donthu (National Institute of Design, India), Prof. Vinod Rajamani (FH Dortmund, Germany) and Dr. Christoph Harrach (OWL Lemgo, Germany) shared insights.
An intl. paper presentation saw 325 submissions, with 110 selected, across six thematic tracks. Best paper awards were presented for outstanding research.
The 2nd International Conclave on Sustainable Technology explored policy frameworks, innovations and sustainability education, featuring panellists such as Vinay Kulkarni (e-Com Elephant), Nalini Shekar (Hasiru Dala) and Mahesh (LTTS).
A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NIE Mysuru and National Formosa University, Taiwan, fostering international research collaborations.
The Conference concluded with networking sessions, company presentations and a cultural evening. Dr. Imran Jamadar, Dean – R&D and Co-Chair, presented the Conference report, acknowledging experts, participants and volunteers.
Prof. Shamsundar Subbarao, Head, NIE CREST, Mysuru, remarked, “ICST 2025 has laid a strong foundation for future collaborations and innovations in sustainable technology.”
