Mysurean among two held in Mandya

Mandya: Two persons including a Mysurean have been arrested by Belakavadi Police in Mandya in connection with a woman’s murder.

The accused are 50-year-old Mahadevashetty of Nerekyathanahalli in T. Narasipur taluk and 35-year-old Satish of Kumbarakoppal in Mysuru. The murdered woman is Premakumari, a resident of Doddabaagilu village in T. Narasipur taluk.

Premakumari, who had left her husband 10 years ago, had come back to her father’s house. Police said that Mahadevashetty had illicit relationship with Premakumari and on Aug. 15, he had taken her to a relative’s house at Poorigali where a quarrel broke out between them. When the quarrel escalated, he strangled her to death.

Mahadevashetty later kept Premakumari’s body in a room of the house. Then he called his son-in-law Satish over phone asking him to come to Poorigali on the pretext of fetching him an Aadhaar Card. After Satish came to the village from Mysuru on his bike, Mahadevashetty convinced Satish to shift the body on his bike.

As per plan, on the evening of Aug. 16, they carried the body on the two-wheeler and dumped it on the road near Hullamballi. Then they cleverly covered it with ragi hay so that a heavy vehicle runs over the body to make it look like an accident.

On Aug. 17, one Mantelingaiah of Hullamballi found the body and immediately informed Belakavadi Police. Based on clues, call records and statements fro0m villagers, the Police took Mahadevashetty into custody on suspicion, who later confessed to crime. Both have been arrested now.
